Junior Shipbroker - Athens Based

 

Your Role

 

We are seeking a junior shipbroker to join our Dry Cargo team in Athens. The role focuses on negotiating and fixing cargoes/vessels across the Atlantic markets.

 

As a Junior Shipbroker, your mission will be to:

 

  • Develop client base.
  • Market, negotiate and fix tonnage and cargoes to clients.
  • Understand the business strategy for the division and seek to identify new business opportunities relating to trends, future markets, products and clients.
  • Identify and introduce new clients to the market and maintain professional relationships.
  • Perform market analysis and provide market insight and trade ideas to clients.
  • Assist Senior Brokers on the desk with ad hoc duties to meet the needs of the business and the team.

 

What we seek - we are looking for someone with:

 

  • Degree in Business / Maritime Studies with 1-2 years relevant work experience ideally.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills – Fluent in English.
  • Personable and engaging, able to build strong relationships.
  • Confident and able to work well under pressure.

 

 

Shipbroker - Singapore Based

 

As a Shipbroker, your mission will be to:

 

We are seeking an experienced Shipbroker to join our growing team in Singapore. You will be responsible for negotiating and fixing spot cargoes on various routes and allocating contract cargoes to assigned ships to maximise the vessels’ financial results within the prevailing market conditions. The ideal candidate should have a successful Broking background within Dry Cargo, be driven and focused, and be a strong relationship builder.

 

  • Drive the expansion of the company's time charter activities in the Pacific/Indian Ocean markets, focusing specifically on the handy-ultra segments. Oversee the end-to-end process of fixtures, ensuring seamless execution from initiation to completion.
  • Foster and fortify existing client relationships, ensuring sustained satisfaction with our services. Actively seek out and onboard new clients to the market, establishing and nurturing professional connections.
  • Conduct in-depth market analyses to extract valuable insights and formulate trade ideas for sharing with clients. Stay current on the dynamics of the Dry Cargo market space to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Generate and deliver reports in accordance with internal processes or external stakeholder requirements. Ensure that these reports are accurate, insightful, and delivered promptly.
  • Demonstrate commitment to responsiveness by promptly and professionally addressing inquiries from clients, suppliers, and colleagues. Efficiently manage communication to uphold positive relationships.
  • Engage in business-related travel and attend client social events as necessary, contributing to relationship-building and staying informed about market trends and opportunities.
  • Adhere to and work in compliance with company policies and procedures, fostering a culture of integrity and ethical business practices. Consistently follow established guidelines in all aspects of your work.

 

What we seek - we are looking for someone with:

 

  • Minimum of 2-4 years of relevant experience
  • Robust understanding of the local handy-ultra market dynamics and key players
  • Proficient in running calculations and comprehending market drivers
  • Strong interpersonal skills are essential
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency in tasks and responsibilities
  • Fluent command of both written and spoken English, coupled with excellent communication skills
  • Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a team
  • Experience of supramax and/or panamax
  • Strong commercial judgement with excellent negotiation skills
  • Confident and able to work well under pressure
